1dr1ft Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I finally get everything put together, but when I try to boot up I get the continous short beeps for about 4 seconds then it restarts and repeats. In the manual it says power error but I'm don't know why. I plugged in the 24 pin power connector and 2 2x2 connectors. My cpu fan hesistates to spin at the beginning, but right when its about to restart it begins to spin. I've check the all the fans and drives. Seems to look okay. I'm not sure what else to check. 1dr1ft Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 yea lol. was the only video card i could afford..but yea i never reached the bios. turns on beeps restart turn on beeps restart. arghh!
Coors Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 How many sticks of memory have you tried booting with? And in which slots?
1dr1ft Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 tried them in all slots 1 stick slot 1 - continuous short beeps, restarts 1 stick slot 2 - long beep, restarts 1 stick slot 3 - long beep, restarts 1 stick slot 4 - long beep, restarts 2 stick slot 1,3 - continuous short beeps, restart 2 stick slot 2,4 - long beep cpu fan still hesitates to spin. normal? manual says continous short beeps = power error..dont know what from though. continous long beep = dram error. my thoughts is that its not the ram if they're in the right slots. Coors Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 the cpu fan hesitating to spin is normal...at least for me as well. It kicks into full speed after it posts. Do you have a spare PSU laying around to test? Because if you get the power error both times you use the yellow slots (which is what I use as well) then I would guess the PSU might be the culprit. Is that a GameXstream? You have it listed as a powerXstream. And is it brand new?
1dr1ft Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 oops yes gamexstream...just came in on monday. i'll get my other psu and test.

Coors Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 It could be. But before RMAing anything is there a way you can test your ram in another system?
1dr1ft Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 no..dont got anything to test my ram in. can local computer shop test them? i dont really want to wait if i have to rma. do you also have this board..if so what kind of memory are you using? Coors Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 it's in my sig lol...but yeah I have this board and I'm using ddr 800 g.skill HZ's Edit: And as far as a local computer shop testing them it depends. Some will and some won't. You would probably have better luck if you try one of the smaller shops if you have any where you live.
