Ciumka Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Hey guys ok, so recently i noticed that my motherboard is not the same it used to be, why i checked my CPU & RAM on other mobos and they were working just fine, but on my mobo i cant overclock the way i used to. So i decide to get a new one, my question is which one would you prefer for socket 939 and yes it has to be DFI. What difference makes it if i have an ATI card so should i get ATI or NVIDIA bridge? thx

red930 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 The Crossfire boards are crappy if you're using some sort of RAID setup. I'm not, and my board works perfectly for me. Other issues may exist, but the RAID one is the one I'm most aware of. Of course, my results aren't completely indicative of things, so it kinda depends on what you plan to do... If you plan on Crossfiring that X1950XTX, then you should probably head the way of the CFX. Other than that, I would just get any board based on the NF4 chipset.. that includes the Ultra-D, SLI-D, SLI-DR, Expert, and Venus, among others. Out of those, I would get the Expert, though. EDIT: I believe most of the issues in the CFX pertain to the ULi chipset...
Guest Jarod888 Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 I just picked up an expert, have not got around to putting everything together, missing a new case and a new 8800 video card. I chose it, because even though there are reviews out there about how it is a pain to install, and it is picky with memory, it is the only 939 board that I could find that had 2 pciexpress slots and 3 normal pci slots. If you go with an sli setup, then it is the only way to have an extra pci slot, and to keep your sound card from being right next to you video card.
