Overclocking givin me less score

Recommended Posts

Well guys I can't believe it..

I should be doing something wrong well when it comes to overclocking i'm a newbie.. I joined the forum and have read a lott of stuff so I decided to start putting it to use and began overclocking..

System specs

DFI SLI-DR EXPERT

Opteron 165 stock @ 1800 mhz

1 Gig (2x512mb) Kingston HyperX

2x 300 Gig Sata

Pcie XFX 7600 GT

Well my prob is that I had it configured and was running at 2000 mhz was running fine then.. 3dmark06 gave me a score of 4219 then I wanted to boost it a little more so I put it working at 2400 but do to circumstances I had to reset the bios and all the setting were gone.. after that I put the cpu to work at 2400 again ran 3dmark06 again and there it was.. got a score of 3576..

WHYYYY????

my cpu score was higher but my vidcard scores were lower

sm2.0/score dropped so did the hdr/sm3.0 score..

anyone had this before??

the thing is I didn't play nor change anything about the vidcard so can itbe the mobo?

Weird. Try uninstalling your card from your system, and then reinstall the driver. I can't think of a bios setting that would affect your video card (unless you were running SLI, and then you would need to reset the PCI-E slot configuration). If you are running your vid card in the bottom slot for some reason (maybe cooling purposes), go into the genie bios and reset the pci-e configuration to 8-*-*8 (default is 16-*-*2). If you're using the upper slot, then you should already be good to go in that department.

Guest Radiohead

You could be absolutely certain of driver uninstall with a little program called driver cleaner pro. Least that way you'd be sure you're starting with a clear slate.

First lesson! Don't do benchies unless you rig is 1000% stable! This happens usually on a not stable rig! You can run the benchmark 500 times and you always get a different score. What BIOS are you on? what are the exact settings and voltages for you CPU and your RAM? Your OPTY should easily do 2.7G-3G if done the right way! You ahve t run the tests described in the OVERCLOCKING guide to find the Max. of your Ram and your CPU. Did you do this already? :)

My thoughts exactly. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches trying to find what's keeping you from getting stable if you follow the guide in order.

AGREED! Pitt_pitu read the above and let us know what your settings are! We'll be able to help you rig for sure! :)
