Question on AM2 memory divider

Recommended Posts

Well I have been reading these forums for about a week or so in preperation to begin my overclocking adventure on my new rig. I recently got:

AMD 4200+ X2 Windsor (65w)

DFI Lanparty UT NF590 AM2

Corsair TwinX2048 (non-EPP) rated 1.9v 5-5-5-12 DDR2-800

Zalman CNPS5900

Antec P180B

I really love DFI boards, I have the old Lanparty NF3 and never had a problem with it but I never got the bawls up to OC it and I finally realized that I need to learn.

I have everything up and running, CPU multi is at 11x, upped the HTT freq to 214 and had to up the VID slightly to 1.3. Everything seems stable right now but I haven't stress tested too much. The only thing I cant figure out is the AM2 divider. I read in one of the stickies that AM2 and DDR2 runs at 1:1 on the lowest setting (200 on my bios). Before I go any further I was wondering what sort of information should I know about that divider? I am going through the OC guide here and it is talking about lowering the divider to 1/2T in order to rule out ram problems at higher settings but I guess that cant be done. Is there any problem proceeding with my OC'ing while the ram is 1:1? Once I max out my HTT freq is there anything I should tweak on the timings other than attempting to go back up to 400mhz (2/1)? DDR2 and AM2 isn't covered in the guide as far as I can tell and I am kinda flying blind on that part. Well, on all of this really, but I think I am grasping the logic behind it :)

Anyways, I wanna say thanks to all you that post here for the good information and helping a newb like me to finally grow my e-balls and dive into the wonderful world of OC'ing.

Okay one more question to go along with the first - doesn't really fit in this thread but maybe a quick answer for someone who answers the first question:

What exactly is the C51/MCP55 HTT Freq/multi/width?

I read somewhere else this is a link of sorts but I couldn't get my head around what exactly that setting modifies. Is this something I should pay attention to when overclocking as well? Anyways, thanks again, sorry about the off-topic question...
