Is the Expert a top 939 Mobo choice?

Hi folks, I am swapping Mobo's to get out from under the cloud called cfx3200dr-g!

Since I know I can rely on you guys for suggestions built on experience, and the wisdom gain therein, I open the table for suggestions.

Everything I have now will be used, except the CFX. It seems to me that the Expert has a nice list of features, and it would be my pick if I was staring at my choices, and forced to pick one. Regretfully, I have made this mistake before....so good choice?

If you can find a Venus board then get that one, but chances are you will not want to pay the price of the Venus and my next suggestion would be the Expert. I was lucky enough to have bought both my Venus boards at Expert prices. Buy the expert and too bad about the CFX3200 board. did you have problems with RAID on it?

The only main difference in the Expert vs Venus is that the Venus uses high quality capacitors, I don't notice any other difference in both. eitherway they are both great boards.

There happens to be a Venus on sale on the forum for $220...or at least there was this morning.

I'd really say grab an Ultra D or Sli-DR though instead, the Expert really doesn't offer anything they don't have (except for a slightly better layout) and they're cheaper.

I've used all of the DFI NF4 boards except the Venus, even did a long tour of duty with a few CFX3200's. I prefer the expert over the other NF4 offerings from DFI. The layout is better and for me it clocks a little better than the other NF4's I've had in my rig.

I think the Expert is worth the few bucks extra, over the Ultra-D..

Yes for the PCI-E spacing, but for the improved power regulation as well. Over the course of the NF4 Ultra-D/SLI-XX's life there have been some pretty ugly multimeter readouts off of CPU voltage under load. And anyway $125 shipped IMO is worth it.

Venus.. whatever, just depends if you get a good deal of if you got the money to burn.

Ugly

EDIT: DAMMIT! I forgot to say clearly and exactly that you will NOT be getting the problems or bad performance that you prolly got from either of DFI's ATI NB/and or third party SB offerings. Unless its for clear RMA reasons of defect in manufacturing. Don't get me wrong, problems can occur in any rig but there are no real born-in problems of the NF4 chipset that I am aware of, certainly not at the level of the crap DFI+ATI/ULI whatever. And Nvidia stays on top of their drivers. NF4 is a damn fine chipset, really just rock solid in my personal experience.

First off.

Praz, thanks for moving this to the right place.

Ugly, thanks for the link to a kickass price, but to avoid being a hypocrit I must use the newegg link below. ;)

NewEgg has it for $129 right now, which is cheaper than the other DFI Nf4 flavors they offer. The best board in my list of options @ the best price in the same list!:eek2: :beerI'll drink to that!

Now, to get rid of this....(bite tongue)

Well, it's been a while, but I ended up with the sli-dr New from NewEgg for a used price. All thanks to UncleDavid.

It's gonna get my micron ram, 170, and a new GPU set up. I think I'll check out the Nvidia section about a good OCable mid-range sli setup.

7900gt sli under water? funn...

Bios suggestions?
