SeeKnaY Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Specs: 2x 36GB WD Raptors 10k RPM 1x 200GB Seagate HD 4x 512MB OCZ PC3200 RAM (These are actually 2 different pairs of OCZ RAM, One set is 2.5-3-3-7 and the other is 2-2-2-5, currently they only work 1 set at a time) CPU: Athlon 64-bit San Diego 4000+ (Socket 939) Video Card: ATI Radeon X850XT MB: DFI Lanparty SLI-DR SIL RAID 3114 Version 5.2.16 NV IDE ROM BIOS 4.84 The BIOS version I am currently using is from early 2005 when OCZ made a modded BIOS for the DFI Board with default settings for their RAM and I used it to overclock my Platinum Rev 2 sticks of RAM. The goal of this is not to overclock anymore, as I have upgraded my main machine and the one I am working on is just going to play movies on my TV. So really I just need a stable machine that will RAID my 2 Raptors. Currently I cannot use the Silicon RAID because it says its been disabled, but I checked in the BIOS and everything seems to be turned on. After the Silicon Raid thing fails it lets me try the NV RAID which seemed to work until I try to install windows and it still sees 2 separate drives. I think I fixed that by slipstreaming the drivers using nLite with that tutorial that’s on here but still leaves the problem of the Silicon RAID being disabled? In a nutshell, I need a stable BIOS which will let me use 4 sticks of RAM and has a up to date RAID BIOS. Thanks -Pat Edited for more clarity. tasr Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 To support dual core you need to be at 2005/06/23 or higher BIOS date. If do don’t plan on running dual core just try the one you have. Anything wrong with the one you have? I run a few off of TMod’s CD, On one of my DFI Ultra-D I run Tony’s 704-2bta and 2006/04/06 on my Expert. If your not planning to OC just get the newest one. Check out TMod’s CD. Tmod's Bios Flash CD & Utility CDs. It’s safe and easy. Any modified BIOS will void the warranty. Also Searching the Stock Speed Database (SSDB) and Overclocking Database (OCDB). See what others are using for BIOS versions. I am not saying their choice of BIOS will work for you. If you must change BIOS and go to a modified one, HitandRun’s advice it true it will void your warranty.
SeeKnaY Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I was downloading the CD when I posted, I had downloaded TMOD's previous versions and it worked great. The BIOS I am using now is only stable with 2 sticks of RAM and doesnt include the newest RAID Version. Also it only works with Safe Mode Settings enabled and nothing else. That is why I am asking which BIOS on the CD would suit me best? Just looking for something Stable with RAID. The processor I have is not Dual Core and probably will never be upgraded for this particular machine.
