R2JJS Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Any one ever run into this? I had been overclocking my system, last changes with the memory trying to get stable. One of my adjustments had bad effects causing boot problems untill I changed it back. I noticed the date & time reverted back to default. After that my adjustments to the FSB settings are ignored they just go to default! I've reloaded the BIOS and cleared the CMOS , basically reloaded all the settings, still default CPU speed no matter what FSB is set at. Any Ideas? kitfit1 Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Sounds like a corrupted bios. Either a new bios chip or a hotflash is the route out.
R2JJS Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 As much as I was trying to update my existing setup, I think the Ultra-D I just ordered will kick this problem in the butt. My trail to going Opty has not been smooth. When I first changed parts my power supply went - I thought about changing MB then, but things seemed OK Next came random lock ups - reinstall of drivers solved this problem-Did not even overclock yet! Change XP's kernal to get use of both cores. My latest problem with bios. I've re flashed to an older, the same and reflashed again - FSB adjustments don't work! So DAGF out the door you go! Moral of the story - I've almost completly built a new system trying to ugrade a 939 - could have went to AM2 or C2D. Makes one wonder how "future proof" a person can be in buying system parts, not counting the down time I've had "upgrading"
