allthatwhichis Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 My sig isn't current and was workin on stablizing my older SLi-DR set up with a opty 175 and 4 gigs of HZs. The sticks I got like less than 2.6 volts. Any more and they tend to error in Prime or re-boot or BSOD. I run em at 2.5+0.03, around 2.58 I think the BIOS reads. When I install all 4 sticks it always jumps to 2.6 to 2.66. Even truning the add 0.03 off doesn't change it. 2.66 makes it re-boot when I load anything big like a 3D mark or game. Sometimes it won't even go into windows. The minute I take two gigs out, the voltage goes back down and everythings peachy... Any ideas? tasr Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Just post the full spec of the rig your trying to get stable. PSU AeroCool Turbine ??? All memory passed memtest? What did you do when you swapped out the Opty 175? Cean OS install? Clear CMOS? Well to run 4x1GB memory on your motherboard you will need to: Disable CPC in BIOS and run at 2T. Genie BIOS settings -- Command Per Clock -- Disable And Enable Memory Hole. Advance Chipset Features -- Memory Hole for PCI MMIO – Enable Enable Memory Hole remaps memory and allow the system to see up too 4GB. You’re limited to 3.2GB in XP 32bit. allthatwhichis Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I'm throwing together an OCDB template to show my full settings. I need to get a few BIOS settings. The has RAM all passed memtest at some point. I haven't tried in this config. I'm just curious as to why the voltage change with 4 sticks. As you mentioned I can't really use it in XP, and I don't really NEED it. I just got rid of my other computer and have 4 gigs of HZs and thought it'd be nice to have them all snug together. I think the last time I tried all 4 gigs in a computer I had the same problem with voltage. It may have also happened in the Venus in my sig. I forget. I'll be back with the ram settings and all in a template. edit: Here we go...
