Eztli Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Previous thread: http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72749 Previously, I could occasionally power on. The status LEDs on the mobo would blink, and I would sometimes be able to turn on -- not recently, however. I bought an OCZ GameXStream 850W, since I was told my PSU was not powerful enough. I installed my new PSU, and all the LEDs on the mobo glow solid. As soon as I hit the power button, all the LEDs blink once (it blinks my other LEDs such as water pump, too). The light that is plugged into the power strip dims for a quarter of a second. The computer does not turn on. What do I do now? PUTALE1 Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 850W should be enough, specially it's OCZ. Did you make sure everything is connected correct, specially you are setting up your WC. Also try to reinsert everything and clear your CMOS.
Coors Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Are all four power connectors plugged in?
Eztli Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Which four power connectors are you talking about? I know absolutely that I have: Motherboard 20 + 4 connectors, hard drives, 1 video card (pulled the power out of the other one), water cooling, and DVD drives. Not sure about any others. Praz Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 There's a floppy type connector next to the PCIE2 slot and a molex connector between the NB and fan3 connector.
tasr Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 For a DFI LAN Party NF4 SLI-DR Are all four (4) power connectors plugged into the motherboard? These are; 24-pin main power connector 4-pin 12v secondary connector or EPS 4-pin 5v/12v molex connection or HDD-type 4-pin 5v/12v floppy connection or FDD-type
Eztli Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 I now have: 20 + 4 power connectors 4 pin molex 4 pin floppy. The Floppy connector was not plugged in before. I also cleared my CMOS (I think). In the course of doing this I completely removed my 2nd videocard. I still cannot turn on my desktop.
tasr Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I now have:20 + 4 power connectors 4 pin molex 4 pin floppy. This is only three (3), the 20 + 4 power connectors counts as one (1) 24 pin main connector. You still need this plugged in: 4-pin 12v secondary connector or EPS ALL four (4) connectors need to be plugged in. EDIT Look at this: NF4 LanParty - initial build w/pictures
Eztli Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I had it incorrectly plugged in. I had the +4 power connector plugged into CPU1, and nothing plugged into the +4 area. Now I have: 20 + 4 CPU1 4 pin molex 4 pin floppy Computer now turns on. However, it will not do anything besides make a long beep over and over. Praz Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I had it incorrectly plugged in. I had the +4 power connector plugged into CPU1 That could be a bad thing. The CPU1 connector consists of 2 12V and 2 ground wires. If I remember the pinout on the +4 connector correctly. you may have fed 12V and 3.3V to the ground side of the motherboard. Eztli Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 I attempted to clear the CMOS, but I still get the beeping. I'm not sure I did it right, so can someone post the instructions for clearing CMOS on a SLI-DR?
