Reaper_NZ Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 The other day my two 7600GT's arrived. After playing around with them for a bit i decided to run some benchies. Once i installed 3dmark05 i ran a single card test and a SLI test. Both scoring the same 5k. I have enabled SLI in the motherboard BIOS. When i start the comp with both cards it tells me i can have SLI. Its just when i turn it on and i lose a monitor, the performance is the same as with one card. I've had a look around and can't seem to figure out why SLI ain't working. Does anyone have any ideas?
tasr Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 1. Remove the old Video card drivers. 2. Shut down remove power. 3. Install both video cards SLI and sli bridge. 4. In the BIOS; Set PCI-Express configuration to '8-NC-4-8'. Enable 'SLI Broadcast Aperture'. 5. Boot and install drivers. 6. Enable SLI in the Nvidia control panel. Card 01: 5.73.22.18.04 Card 02: 5.73.22.15.01 Check motherboard BIOS version: 04/06/2006 1. Remove the old Video card drivers.2. Shut down remove power. 3. Install both video cards SLI and sli bridge. 4. In the BIOS; Set PCI-Express configuration to '8-NC-4-8'. Enable 'SLI Broadcast Aperture'. 5. Boot and install drivers. 6. Reaper_NZ Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Ah god damn it. SLI stopped working again. You could only set SLI Broadcast Aperature to Disabled or Auto. And i think its disbaling itself. Is there a way to enable it without setting it to auto? On a good note though, i got 8224 out of one card. And i got an OC of 629/1.54 from a factory OC of 580/1.
radodrill Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 When i start the comp with both cards it tells me i can have SLI. Its just when i turn it on and i lose a monitor, the performance is the same as with one card. AFAIK SLi only supports a single monitor. If you're using 2 monitors while gaming; why not just run one per GFX card W/O SLi.
sailindawg Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Radodrill is correct. SLI only supports one monitor. Once cannot run a dual monitor system with SLI. That's what kind of nice about the 8800's. For one card, they are much faster than most SLI set-ups using 2-7xxx series cards. And the cost for one 8800 card is about the same for a pair of 7xxx cards. I can't even run a second monitor with my GX2 card if I want multi-gpu performance. Reaper_NZ Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Um, i know you can only use one monitor. I even said it. ...when i turn it on and i lose a monitor... But anywho. I got it working. For some reason vsybc doesn't work with SLI. But on the other hand i seem to ne getting really hard core lag. Lik when i start a game the computer just stops for a couple of minutes then carries on. Its really wierd, and incredibly annoying.
tasr Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 What Nvidia drivers do you have installed? Make sure your video card BIOS and drivers are compatible together. What happens when it's returned to stock settings? (No OC)
CharmedLover84 Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Vsync does work if you have the right drivers and settings. SLI does work if you have the right settings. If you have the wrong frame rendering mode set, it will act like you only have one card running, that's something you need to look at. I know because I've had 2 SLI setups and it ain't easy. If none of those is the problem, it's very likely you have a bad card, happened to me more than once.
