cler1c Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I've got one 8800 GTX and one 8800 GTS - will they run together in SLi?
p0tter Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Negitive: Can I mix and match graphics cards? In order to provide optimal symmetric scaling, SLI technology requires the NVIDIA GPUs to match. For example, a GeForce 7800 GTX must be paired with another GeForce 7800 GTX. Likewise, a GeForce 6600 GT must be paired with another GeForce 6600 GT. However, using the latest Release 80 or later graphics drivers, NVIDIA GPUs sold by different manufacturers can be used together in an SLI configuration. For example, a GeForce 7800 GT from vendor ABC can be matched with a GeForce 7800 GT from vendor XYZ. http://www.slizone.com/page/slizone_faq.html I will trade you a 7900GTO for the 8800GTS so you can run sli GTO style
cler1c Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 ahahaha. Thanks for the offer though. I actually traded in my GTO for the 8800 GTX through EVGA's stepup program. Have to update my sig one of these days. I went to that slizone site but couldn't find the info. Your search skills > mine. Thanks! CapnKirk Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I've got one 8800 GTX and one 8800 GTS - will they run together in SLi? Just curious, because I'm never satisfied with my gear. Is there any game that needs a pair of 8800 GTX's in SLi? Also, what brand is the GTX?
cler1c Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 haha. Nope. There aren't even any games (i.e. directX10 games) out yet that can take full advantage of one 8800 GTX, let alone 2 . Mine is an evga. On a side note, different brand same gpu cards can run together in SLi.
Praz Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Is there any game that needs a pair of 8800 GTX's in SLi? That would depend on the resolution you're using and in-game settings. 24" screens and larger with demanding games would benefit from SLI. Company of Heroes with all settings maxed out at 1680x1050 would benefit. But the drivers need to mature some before 8800 SLI become a viable option.
