How Do I Start This?

Recommended Posts

The problem is I dont want all the rubber moldings the kits have, I was wondering how you mount the Plexi if dont want screws do you use a type of glue or apoxy or what, see the thing is I have a full tower and I just want to go and buy the plexi form home depot or something and cut it out with a dremel then file the edges and mount it but ive seen some that look completely flush with the metal of the case... without screws or so it looks or is the plexi glass mounted to the back side of the case panel. Tell me if this will work... I go and buy a peice of plexiglass and then cut out the pattern on the side of my case with a dremel then mount then smooth it with a file (what should i use to smooth it?) and then i have no idea how to mount the plexi to the case

I could use screws right but it would probally look bad I'll throw in my system specs for the heck of it just in case they might hold some importance even tho I wouldnt see why

I was kinda wondering the same thing too. From what it looks like to me, they use rubber or median to hold it in place. My friend sent me a pic of his and i couldn't figure out how he did it. I'll ask him when i see him again.

i have never done a case mod in my life... that'll come in time, so my suggestion is anything but official, But, what if you sanded down the edge of the plexi so it has a notch the thickness of the case so it'd look roughly like this:

________________

______| |________

|_____________________________|

the superglue the window on the notch to the inside of the case where you cut the window of the same shape.

Just an idea, Probably wouldnt work. I have no clue

i get what ur saying. but the sanding would be hard to do and take a long time. and i dont understand that picture at all. i think if u just caulk it to the inside of ur case that would be fine. and then afterwards put a line of caulk on the edge of the plexi(where it toughes the case), then run over it with ur finger. it will look like the plexy is flush with the case. but make sure you use a clear caulk!

Well I e-mailed the guy who did this case...

aci.sized.jpg

And heres what he said...

"what you can do is cut your case the shape you like and then go to home depot to buy the plexi glass they will cut it for you.the way that it would be attached is but using double sided tape found in the paint department. this tape is very strong and will hold up to 2 pounds of weight, more than enough. the tape cost about 3-4 bucks.

send me a pic of your completed case. have fun!!!

PEACE OUT"

Im just not sure if double sided tape will hold but if thats how he did it... his case looks good tho atleast I think nothing special but it looks classy to me, and I like that

What im going to do is put the window in and put a Red Cold Cathode in it I already have 6 fans

Ok ran into a small problem, Will have to start tommrow or something we'll have to see what happens but something came up today...

Still definately going to do it tho just ran into a giant list of chores my dad decided to give me on the only day that mattered...

For thoes of you that are going what the heck how old is he well... Im 16

and Radicom 56 is turing 16 next saturday but yes the guide will still be made I just dont know when I also have to get ahold of a dremel...Thats why I suggested the next contest to be a free dremel...

It will still be done though... It will be a simple easy and cheap way to put in a window mod. This is our first case mod besides fans and such so if it looks like crap ill still post the guide in hopes yours will look better im not the beest person behind the dremel but Radicom is pretty good

For any one who wanted to know exact price for this window mod and how much we paid for it there might be someplace cheaper but this is from home depot

18x24 Acrylic = 8.46

3m heavy duty Double sided tape Tape = 3.27
