momoceio Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Has anyone used one of these kits or have any comparisons of it? What other sub $200 cooling setups would you recommend? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835128015
radodrill Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Has anyone used one of these kits or have any comparisons of it? Looks like a low quality system. Also, a single 120mm radiator is pretty skimpy for a full H2O rig. The 32C temps users on the egg reported are probably idle (non-OC) temps What other sub $200 cooling setups would you recommend? Check this one at petrastechshop out. Includes everything you need to get started and consists of quality DangerDen components. Also comes with a GPU block so well worth the extra cost (compared to the gigabyte).
momoceio Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Thanks! Would you happen to have any numbers that compare this to a good air cooling unit? I'm wanting to OC when I build my new Conroe rig and I keep seeing people OCing and hitting temps of 60-65 on air...that just seems way to high for my liking. My sig rig is running a P4 540J 3.2GHz OCed to 3.92GHz. The idle/load CPU temps are ~28/40C. By comparison; I only got it up to 3.76GHz on air (slightly better than stock HSF) and was running temps of 45/60C There is no way an air-cooled unit can come close to matching the performance of a H2O setup. Another good part of H2O is that, as long as you're not exceeding the thermal capabilities of the system, the load temps are the same no matter how high the OC/volts are. Smoken Joe Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Agreed that is a fantastic deal from petras shop. I would pass on the gigabite too much work for too little gain though an improvement on the older ones thay had. I have bought things there before and they have good serice. That is close to what I have. The Masterkleer tubing is great and dirt cheap. I have diffrent rads and block but the DD is probibily as good if not better for dual and quad cores.
