Pink Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Hello, I've bought an opteron 165 to replace my A64 3200+, but I've got a big problem with this one. the rig boot but.....look at this : http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9052/biossn6.jpg I've got it every time I start my rig and to arrive in Windows, I must press F1 so. Cpu-Z "see" my opteron like this : and I've got all the time BSOD (when windows start, or when I use windows during 2 minutes).....I can't use my rig with this opteron. so I replace with my A64 3200+. someone know where can come from this problem with my opteron ? I've got bios merlin 04/11/2006. the opteron start at 9*200 (1.35v).....origin so. I try the clear cmos, the long clear cmos..... I try with the merlin bios 07/10/2006 and the DFI bios 04/06/2006. but allways the same thing. thanks. Pink.
27floyd Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 did you re-install windows when you put the CPU in?
Pink Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I can't.....I've got always BSOD.
loggan26 Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I can't.....I've got always BSOD. New cpu = new memory controller = new memory timings, what worked before on old cpu is not gonna work on the new,,,,,,,BSOD usually indicates a memory config problem, back to basics, if need be install with one stick of ram. CPDMF Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 There are no settings in the bios that would cause that problem. Do you know anybody with a dual core CPU you could use? With the error message of the 2 CPU's being at different speeds I would consider the CPU at fault.
Pink Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 well, I come from bios. I find this option : - Advanced Chipset Features : - ACPI SRAT : enabled (default) - ERRATA 94 enhancement : disabled (default) - ERRATA 123 enhancement : disabled (default) - Power Management Setup : - ACPI function : enabled (default) - ACPI suspend mode : S1$S3 (default) with the opteron 165, this option was like that (like with my A64 3200+ now). Pink Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I done the IHS removal. but I did it with a lot of prudence. I didn't break anything in doing this thing. do you think that something can be break nethertheless ? where can I see that something on the Cpu is break ?
