dsaint Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Try Marvel Gigabyte driver on CD or download from DFI. You have two Ethernet inputs. 1 is nvida 2 is marvel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but 1. Nvidia is faster. Personally I just disable Marvel in Bios.
stuio Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 hi dsaint, thanks... i have got as far as here http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/dri..._FLAG=A&SITE=US but baffed as to what one i need.. i downloaded nforce drivers but i assume you mean that i need to install marvon yukon drivers and once installed just disable it. i have used the nvidia ethernet port on here before but just reinstalled xp pro.. i can connect my usb modem up and works ok but want ethernet back in. i can get an IP address with nvidia (top ethernet port) but just keeps saying aquiring network address or cable unplugged
dsaint Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 hmm o.k. I will clarify. 1. If you use just the top ethernet port, the nvida mother board driver is all you need. It's included. Just make sure it's checked on installation process. 2. If you use the bottom ethernet port, then download the Marvel Lan driver 7.29 - If you don't plan on using the bottom one you DON'T have to download the driver. Just disable it in bios. 3.NDIS 452.zip may be what you need. But I am not familiar with this one. But it says -NDIS driver for Integrated LAN of nForce Chipset. http://www.ndis.com/
dsaint Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 If your cable is unplugged and you get the cable is unplugged message then driver is installed properly. Acquiring network address is windows looking for a connection. What type of Internet connection do you have? Dial up, Broad Band, DSL? So if the marvel driver is installed but nothing plugged into it you get a annoying unplugged message go start - right click my computer - properties - hardware - right click to disable devices. dsaint Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Sounds like a hardware problem maybe. Are there any splitters on that coaxial. Get a replacement by your cable company. Needs to be a two way. But your modem should be connected directly to a drop amplifier. Get a router for protection. Call your cable company. They should be able to help you. Mine would anyway. dsaint Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Just re read your post. If you didn't move the modem then this shouldn't effect you. Bad Ethernet device?
Sharp Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Try these drivers again, http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_win2k_6.86.html Also if your marvell LAN MAC address has been wiped out, to check. (make sure it is enabled) start >RUN type CMD enter type ipconfig /all If you see physical address = 00:00:00:00:00:00 That means it needs to be reprogrammed. Guest Stuio Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 well im back again but this time cant do it at all, i have been using my nvidia nforce controller for almost 2 years without a problem and had saved the driver install files. I reformatted my pc recently but cant get back using my nvidia nic unless i use my NTLworld ambit modem via its usb connection. I uninstalled all Nvidia drivers and reinstalled nforce driver(NF4w2k666E) selecting "NO" when asked whether i want to install nvidia firewall as i had major problems with this before. i selected to install SWE drivers aswell, I tried changing duplex from autu to 100 half & 100 full duplex and disabled the power option to switch it off to save resources but still nothing. I get limited or no activity. i did get cable unplugged with other drivers.
