I dont know about you guys, but my Opty runs great still

SO I'll upgrade in a few years, but for now, Im good. let the prices do what they may.

i'm with you on that one.. I got two s939 rigs that are just as good as any, both running at 3Ghz+ with tight timings and that's all that matter at this moment in time.

Wow, i just bought an Opty 170 last Friday for $193 and received it yesterday. I'm glad i bought when i did. So far i got it at 250X10@stock vcore. Haven't tried to push it yet. It's a CCBBE 0615 DPMW. I have a good feeling about this chip. :)

Why not go for an opty 12XX and AM2 system? AM3 proc. should fit AM2 boards, and the 12XX optys are as good as the 1XX, if not better.

because AM3 uses HT-3.0 as with AM2 uses HT-2.0 :D

AM2 systems really are not that much faster than your s939 systems,..

stay with s939 and wait for AM3 i say.

AM3 + DDR3 at reasonable prices are too far away.

In order to have a good system that will last so long, you must get a good dual core system and OC as much as possible. AM2 / 939 opty/A64 @ 2.6 Ghz is the minimum IMO.

and AM2 is a waste of money for the little performance increase that you'll get versus s939, and by the time AM3 comes around everyone using s939 won't mind paying the little extra money.
