knopflerbruce Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 This must be the end of s939.  Maybe this is a sign. Maybe K8L is not so far away...?
AMD Fanatic Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 They probably have a big stock of 185's? Maybe Newegg has a pricing issue ATM?
likewhoa Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I dont know about you guys, but my Opty runs great stillSO I'll upgrade in a few years, but for now, Im good. let the prices do what they may. i'm with you on that one.. I got two s939 rigs that are just as good as any, both running at 3Ghz+ with tight timings and that's all that matter at this moment in time. kramerica Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Why not go for an opty 12XX and AM2 system? AM3 proc. should fit AM2 boards, and the 12XX optys are as good as the 1XX, if not better.
Smokin_Joe Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Wow, i just bought an Opty 170 last Friday for $193 and received it yesterday. I'm glad i bought when i did. So far i got it at 250X10@stock vcore. Haven't tried to push it yet. It's a CCBBE 0615 DPMW. I have a good feeling about this chip. dr_bowtie Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 well that's my luck...no dual core opty in my future for 939 at those prices...
ReelFiles Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 My Opty is the last 939 CPU I was gonna have anyway, so no matter to me. Now for AMD to come up with REAL quadcore....
HITandRUN Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 My Opty is the last 939 CPU I was gonna have anyway, so no matter to me. Now for AMD to come up with REAL quadcore.... Agreed on that one! I wont bother with AM2 and wait till AM3 comes out!

dr_bowtie Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I just want a dual core.... but yea I think I will wait for AM3...I seem to always skip past one platform then catch the skipped one on the rebound to play with...
kramerica Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 AM3 + DDR3 at reasonable prices are too far away. In order to have a good system that will last so long, you must get a good dual core system and OC as much as possible. AM2 / 939 opty/A64 @ 2.6 Ghz is the minimum IMO.
