Branjo Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I was looking at the tuniq but man that thing looks BIG!. and I get alot of dust in the basement so i'd be cleaning that sucker everyday, although a fan filter would sort that out...lol. If it fits I think I will go for the Tuniq. The CPU I think im gonna go for the E4300, Apart from the Disabled VT the chip is Identical to the E6300. Who knows the price may drop even more on it, but if it goes up again then yeah I would just get the E6300. So - CPU, PSU, MEM, GPU, Mobo all sorted. Thanks chaps I appreciate the input. Now if all goes well I'll be ordering as soon as the Tax rebate hits the bank.
Kingfisher Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I like my e4300 but mine seems to like voltage a little more than raider's These will easily make 3 ghz. on air or so it seems. Nice list Branjo, you are going to love these cpus. I want to add that my experience with the DS3 was less than favorable. It was a real pain overclocking with the constant on and off and on and off crap. Perhaps I just had a bad board.
Coors Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 lol I'm very impressed with this chip so far. Priming at 3060mhz right now and it only needed a small bump in voltage. But the funny thing is that from changing the voltage setting from "auto" which showed 1.325 in core temp to "1.35" still shows as 1.325 in core temp. I think that hitting 3.6 is my goal. Having a 100% overclock would be pretty sweet. But I have a feeling I'll have to upgrade my cooling to get that high. At full load right now my temp varys from 59C to 64C. dab Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Do not get that mushkin PSU. I repeat - DO NOT GET IT. It is insufficient for that rig, might hold up for a while but ultimately will fail. I know this, I made the same mistake - with similar specs. Spend $10 - 20 more on your PSU, look at silverstone Element as an alternative, or the new Antec EarthWatts. Branjo Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Thanks dab, I was a little concerned also about the 12v amps myself. How about this XCLIO 550w same price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817189006
dab Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 This one would IMO be a better choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817256008
Branjo Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Anyone know if the Buffalo Firesticks will boot if the board requires 1.8v ram. I read somewhere that the SPD is set at DDR667 to compensate for this. Man I hate the thoughts of having everything set up and then having to buy another stick that I will only use once inorder to get into the BIOS. Coors Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Well my g.skill worked just fine at ddr 800 with no tweaking. Maybe I just got lucky but everything just worked like it was supposed to. I even got the cpu OCed to 3060 and the ram is at ddr 850 with stock volts.
Branjo Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Sweet, I am very impatient and I'm praying that nothing arrives DOA and there are no hickups so I can get up and running 1-2 hours after the big brown truck leaves the street. Branjo Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 These Firestix look like they will never have enough in stock of the 2 x 1Gb. So would using 4 x 512Mb give me any more overclockability or is there any down side??? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820150053
ghettotech Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I would go with the 4300 for a true budget build. for $400 bucks you can have a 3.0ghz+ system with 2gb of ddr2 with SLI capabilities.
