Budget C2D Build help

First off, thanks for even looking

Ok so what is the lowest possible price that I could build a Rig for, that would still smoke the rig in my sig?

I basically need everything as my current rig will be donated to the wife for playing The Sims and Solitaire, (a damn shame, I know)

CPU - Want an E6600 but will settle for an E6400 or E6300

Mobo - would like a DFI but will settle for less :( <--I hate myself for writing that.

PSU - nothing to fancy price being big issue

RAM - prepared to go only 1 Gig to cut costs

GPU - would like a 79 series or X1xxx, as long as its better than an X800 i dont care.

Case - simple, black and inexpensive

DVDRW - as long as it does the job.

3 x HDD's - 3.0Gbs or 1.5Gbs between 80 and 120Gigs each

I know absolutely nothing about the power needs of a conroe setup

the only thing i dont see as a problem are the hard drives.

I have been all over newegg and I have no idea about what memory or mobo or PCIe Graphics card to get.

I dont want to give an approx amount to spend I just want to spend the least amount humanly possible...lol

Any advice at all would be great.

Core 2 Duo E6400 are selling for $222 on newegg right now.

DFI Infinity 975x is 155 on newegg.

1GB DDR2-800 kits are selling around 130 on the internet.

I got my 7900GS after rebate for about 150 and it performs great.

I'm not sure about other components. The ones I've listed I have heard good things from but I haven't had any experience with except for the video card.

You can probably find some products on the FS thread for cheaper than those prices. Hope this helps some.

Thanks guys. Ok I have put together a list up for scrutiny

HDD 2 x 80 Gigs $88 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822135106

GPU $190 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102061

PSU $80 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817189006

RAM $103 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231049

Mobo $155 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136168

CPU $187

http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?...N82E16819115005

Total $822 inc shipping.

Ok so is there any conflicts there or corners that I could cut? im kinda settling on the E6300 and a DFI mobo. I can use an old case for now and the stock cooler the C2D comes with should get me through in the mean time plus 2x 80Gigs instead of 3 as i can steal one from my current rig.

My cousin just got an E6300 and is blown away with it. he upgraded from an XP3000 though lol

If you haven't ordered the parts yet you might want to shuffle the money around a little. Spend a little more on the CPU, a little less on the board and a little more on the memory.

Right now you have a CPU that is going to need some serious FSB, a board that probably won't get it there, and memory that is known not to clock very well.

A friend of mine put this budget C2D build together a month or so ago and it just screams..

I would recommend these BUFFALO Firestix 2GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400). These may have D9 chips and will overclock alot better than either of the G.Skills in this thread.

I would get the DS3.

I knows its a newegg review,but..

Pros: Works at advertised speed without breaking a sweat......and OC'd to 1000FSB. AND...still shipping with Micron D9GMH chips....a bargain at this price!!!

But, this info has been floating around on xtremesystems for a while and the speed timings and volts seem like D9's
