Splave Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Hi, whats the max safe PCI-E frequency on 680i with 8800gts, Ive read many places of 125mhz but some people as high as 150mhz. And yes 3dmark05 scores go up around 500-700pts with the raised frequency.
red930 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Max I've ever gone on any board is around 125....this seemed to be the cap for me on nf4s so I never bothered with higher on the 975X or the RD600. Safe though? Not really sure if anything would be hurt by bumping it up too high, though I'd run some long loops of 3dmark to ensure some form of stability. RAINMAKA Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I raised my PCI-E frequency and it temporarly fixed the problems I was encountering with my 7900GT, but after awhile the problems came back.
Splave Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 cool, well before I bump it up max im getting in the atitool is 635/1900 very interesting, at 125mhz. Atitool did 660 on the core but the memory failed sooner.
chavez885 Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 so upping PCI express frequency helped 500-700ish points in 3dmark,i didn't think it helped much

Darkorb Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 so does uppping that frequency increase your GPU oc'in potential? or does it just increase your score?
CPDMF Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Watch for LAN problems when cranking on the PCI-E bus. You'll know when you went too far when downloads start getting corrupted..
Darkorb Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 oh, id rather not then lol
CPDMF Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Nothing wrong with clocking the bus. Each rig will have a different limit same as CPU's and memory, so just like those you have to check things to make sure it's stable at that speed. 115 -117 is a good area to play around in.. Guest IAmATeaf Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 You might also get HD problems with the SATA controllers if the PCI-E frequency is clocked too high, have read that in some cases going above 105 causes problems but it does vary from board to board. CPDMF Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 The infinity has a sata lock on it. They just didn't lock down the LAN for some reason.
