High Temps

Just reinstalled my AC64.

My cooling setup:

Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 w/ AS5

120mm fan at front

120mm fan at back

Temps:

25 minutes Orthos load, 44 - 48C core temps.

I applied the AS5 by:

1. Removing all the previous stuff with Akasa TIM remover

2. Putting a small blob in the middle

3. Spreading it round the CPU

4. Using a cloth to remove most of the excess so there was a thin film

5. Putting a tiny blob in the middle of the CPU

6. Fitting the heatsink

Any ideas?

AS5 and it can take up to 200hr of power cycles to fully cure. Which then you should see temp drop.

What are your room ambient temperatures? Normally at idle do not expect the anything cooler than 5ºC – 15ºC above your room ambient temperatures.

If the cooler fan in plugged into the motherboard, go into the BIOS and set the fan to full on a lower temp.

Is the A64 on straight not cocked to one side?

OK, I'll keep Orthos going whenever I'm on the PC and hope that something changes :)

I've got no way of checking my ambient room temps, cos I sold my Akasa Fan Controller, rough guess I would say 17C.

The CPU fan is maxed out, at 2100rpm.

It looks like its straight on
