Need a new MOBO-DDR/AGP support, any tips would be great

Recommended Posts

Hey my LP NF2 Ultra B died and I'm looking to upgrade now.

I've got a stick of 1GB DDR memory I'd like to use, so was trying to stay with a board that would support that. I also have an AGP 8X NVIDIA GeForce 6600 XT that I'd like to use unless there is an increadible deal that will get me a better video card in PCI Express with the MOBO.

Can you guys give me a short, short list of the better used boards for my $. I do require IDE/SATA RAID 1 and would like to not have to buy an audio card if I can get it in the chipset like with the NF2. I've been told there were a lot of issue with memory managers with AMD64 along the way, so I'd really like to avoid figuring out what has/doesn't have all the problems I want to avoid.

I'd just like a great head start on where to go so I don't get mired down trying to skip spending weeks that I don't have reading reviews. Wasn't sure where to post this. If you can give me links to reviews that point out the best/better and why you want this/not that, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.--DD

ok, you are in A64 life now, the board i have got is good but rare now.....

dare i same a few bad words....

Asrock dualsata-II it has both AGP and PCI-E slots and has proved a fantastic clockers.

or a ABIT AV8 3rd-eye with the via K8T800 chip set,

There is also the ASUS A8V which is the same.

they are your only options.

(dont hurt me for saying bad words.......)

  • 4 weeks later...

GMCDave if you are upgrading why not an Asrock 4CoreDual-Vsta

with a "lil" core2duo? and you will be using your hardware too..for the soundcard I recommend you the chaintech av710 pretty cheap card and very good sound, there was a review in a "audiophile kind" forum and it was better than some xfis and that kind of cards
