Angry_Games Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 good because I'll probably still be using it in 2009 the way I hate Vista
Chump Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 That’s good to know. I think I will still be using XP for a while after reading up on Vista. I really wish I had just ordered Vista rather than trying to educate my self & come up with some justification for my wife as to why I need to spend more money on my PC
old_geekster Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I guess I will make it a "Hat Trick" (Like that A_G?). I don't plan to use Vista until I have no other choice. Unless, of course, Uncle Bill decides to give it to me as a gift. I don't think that will happen. I have recently begun to explore Ubuntu Edgy Eft 6.10. It is, in some ways, better than XP. The main way is you can customize it far more easily. There is little that you can't do without a "tweaks guide". I believe that we will soon have the ability to play any game in Linux. They have brought the two top Linux developer groups together into one organization, to assure they can keep pace with M$. They actually plan to surpass them. They say that 80% of computers in use today, have a M$ OS installed. They want to change that statistic. Oh, yes, the best part of Ubuntu (prn. oo-boon-to), it and thousands of apps are FREE!! Most of them equal to or better than, XP.

UncleDavid218 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Is Vista really that bad? I've never ever used it but Dan and Travis seem to not like it, and if that's any indication it probably isn't worth it...
Guest Blooz1 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 That's good to know, because it'll be a cold day in hell before I buy Vista!

I'm mostly just opposed to paying for a new operating system when the one I have works fine. Plus I'm not a particular fan of all the copy protection BS they're implementing. Thraxz Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Plus I'm not a particular fan of the stupidly ridiculous level of copy protection (read: content monopoly) BS they're implementing. There, fixed that for you TDV.
uneedav8 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Is Vista really that bad? It blows big time. I think the majority of the people will upgrade because of the fancy aero interface. Even though I am a sucker for that stuff.....I am suprised at how quickly I got tired of the aero. I switched it back to windows classic faster than you can say "desktop gadgets." Even with all the junk disabled....no transparencies and in classic windows mode......it ran really slow. I feel ripped paying OEM price. I'd hate to be the person who pays retail box price. Thank god for the continued XP support.
peteski Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I think that is good news as I plan to keep on using XP until it is no longer supported. I haven't seen any of Vista yet so I can't comment on it's features but I'm not particularly interested in a jazzed up, candy-cane, resource hogging user interface in XP either, and I reckon Vista will be much, much more of the same. tasr Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I knew that was coming and that is a good thing. I loaded Vista RC1 on a IBM xSeries 346 server before our DR test last year. The server has two 3.4 Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processors, 8GB of DDR2, ATI RADEON 7000M and 4 15K SCSI. Vista ran OK I guess…….hehehehe
