Thraxz Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 What driver exactly?
manchurianblue Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I tried catalyst 7.1 and the supplier catalyst 6.9, neither works
Thraxz Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 That's interesting, but it works normally right until the ATI driver install? Do you already have the window's framework updates installed before you try to install the 7.1?
manchurianblue Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Yes I do have 2.0 installed. When I installed from the CD supplied by sapphire it even installed framework 2.0 again, still no use.
red930 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Although having a full signature is not required anymore due to reasons which are beyond my comprehension, a full signature would be very helpful for me, and therefore for you as well. So let me ask the obvious too then; which windows are you running?
manchurianblue Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 windows xp pro sp2
Thraxz Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 That's really a very odd thing happening. Perhaps you botched the windows install (FAR too easy to do I've done many times) and should start again from scratch.
red930 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Actually it sounds like a timing problem for the display. It shows the BIOS and XP splash screens OK. As soon as the Desktop loads, the display turns off. Start in Safe Mode to see if it will show the OS running. If so you will have to reset the resolution and timings. manchurianblue Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I don't know if it helps, but my monitor is gateway 21 inch wide screen monitor, model number FPD2185W. I've tried several resolutions from high to low to deal with the driver but still no use. OS runs in safe mode. I go there to do system restore everytime I try something and it still doesn't work. There maybe an issue with the gateway monitor with EZTune software installed, but I don't have it installed
Thraxz Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 You would know a lot better than I Roadie. I've never had to deal with a problem like that. Hence why I'm a little mystified here.
