red930 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 For those with multiple HD sources and only a single HD input on your display, here's a product that promises function in a killer form. The Evergreen EG-HDMI201 2 into 1 HDMI switch. It can switch two 1080p HDMI inputs and even includes an IR receiver with a 4 foot cable that lets you hide the switch. I'm no fan of having switches and such visible from the front so this looks like a nice change of pace. According to the translation there is no need for an external power source but there seems to be a power jack on the side of the unit. Something might have been lost in the translation. Retail looks to be about $90USD which seems fair for the function. http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/20070126/everg.htm
arklab Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Would similar functions be included in an AV reciever?

red930 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 You can find HDMI switching in A/V receivers but at what cost? Mechanical switches normally require you to power the devices down before switching. Electronic switches normally work when the devices are powered on. Sometimes you have to power the display off if the two sources are at different resolutions.
