kramerica Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 So, I was able to reach 2.81 Ghz pretty easily: FSB @ 312 CPU volts @ 1.4V (stock = 1.32V) DRAM Volts @ 2.0 (stock = 1.8V) HT, Chip Volts at stock Ram isn't OC'ed at all at this point. Any OC above that fails at startup (I get a message saying overclock failed right after the IDE detection). I tried raising HT and chip voltage - same result. I know that this board should reach higher FSB. Is there anything I can do, or have i reached the limit? I really feel I can do more. Thanks a lot
Guest laydback Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Whoa, you have a long way to go my friend. A better signature is your first step. Or even a A64Tweaker shot. kramerica Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Thanks for the reply, here is the A64 tweaker. If there is anything else you think is relevant please let me know. thanks again.
Guest laydback Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Those values are wrong, you'll need to download CPU-Z from www.cpuid.org . It loads a driver which will allow you to see the correct values.
kramerica Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Yeah, I just saw that. I have cpu-z which also isn't working 100% right. probably because of Vista. any way, if it helps , these are the settings i know of: CL: 5 Trcd: 5 Trp: 5 Tras: 15 Trc:20 Trfc: 35 Trrd: 3 Twr: 5 Twtr: 3 I've manually configured them at the DRAM settings. likewhoa Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Trfc should be lower, lol holy crap you got some loose as timings buddy.. play with DDS & DS values after you have tighten some of those primary RAM timings.
kramerica Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Thanks, but right now, I'm looking for the CPU max potential. I'll tighten the timings afterwards. Does anybody know why I am getting the CPU overclock failed message beyond the 312 FSB point?
likewhoa Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 give it more voltage.
chan Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 maybe i'm wrong but u have 400w PSU...i'm asking just to make sure that i'm right
kramerica Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Well, thanks for now. I've reached 2.9 Ghz @ 1.425V, ran orthos and the cpu died. don't know why, temps were normal (~45C), voltage wasn't that high. I've tried everything i know: different PSU, resetting the CMOS, disconnecting unnecessary cables... nothing. The red light next to the PCI is on, and when I hit the power button, the DRAM light turns on, and for a second the CPU fan starts spinning, but that's it. Nothing is spinning, nothing is making a noise, nothing on screen. I guess its the CPU, cause the mobo seems to be working at least partially (power button works, DRAM lights turns on). Any things I can do, before returning it to the store?
Coors Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 1.425v is prolly not enough for 2.9ghz. There is no need to return a perfectly good cpu.
kramerica Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 You don't understand, its dead. either the MB or the CPU. but the PC is dead. no boot whatsoever, nothing on the screen. Please, anything I can do, before taking it back?
