PVR Case...

Hey what do you guys think of this case...

I found it at SVC...

It has a Proprietary PS2 power supply...is that going to be a issue...?

This uses the street link...

I like it but I only question the PSU...

Proprietary shouldn't be an issue - 350W is likely lots enough provided you're not running any high-powered hardware. Just make sure you have some MOLEX-to-SATA power adapters as these type of PSUs generally don't SATA plugs.

For example, I used to run an HTPC - basically the one in my sig - with the following components off an Antec 380W PSU:

DFI NF3 250GB

Venice 3000+

1GB RAM

2x HDD

ATI 9800XT AIW

Tuner Card

Wireless Card

DVD-RW

Floppy

Memory Card Reader

This ran 24/7 without issues for about a year, when I upgraded to a new CPU/Video card and added watercooling.

cases are long gone....

By the time I got around to ordering one they were gone and the replacement is full price...:(

But on a lighter note I ordered a Thermaltake Tenor case that may fill the bill a bit better albiet at a higher price...;)

The Thermaltake case came in yesterday...

All I can say is that this thing is a tank....the box is heavy...heavier than I expected...

That actual case is made of very strudy steal...the front is made of aluminum and is also very thick....

This is not by any means a flimsy case...so far I am very satisfied with my purchase...

Now to fill it with goodies....;)

I looked at it also...

How well does that work for you...?

Thats the one that uses the riser slots for extra expansion...?

Ya know I am thinking of shucking all my pc cases for something like these for space saving...I can put the case on the desk and a LCD monitor on top of the case just like the old days with CRT monitors...;)

makes sence top me....;)

most of them I have seen take regular PSU's or a proprietary unit...

The case I linked in my 1st post had a proprietary unit...

I really liked that case and should have gotten it when I wanted too...but such is life...

You know that saying..."Good things come to those who wait...!"

Thats a load of crap....

the rest of that saying goes like this...

"Good things come to those who wait, but only the stuff left behind by those that hurried...!" ;)

I got trigger happy...

I was going to put a SLI-D® into the Thermaltake case....but I decided not to...

If you look for the Biostar Tforce 550 board you can still get the 3600-X2 combo...(gotta look for the board 1st)

Then if you enter Promo code "EMC322BRISBANE" (all caps)

you get $6.00 off the deal...making it 140.00ish

so I got one...;)

Yeah the one I got takes a micro ATX mobo and a normal PSU!

Here are some pics:

Here I machined a new passive cooler for the 6600LE I got in there since the stock fan was driving me nuts! I took some old heatsink from a AC/DC transformer! Worked out ok! Load temps are at 55C.
