knopflerbruce Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 A friend of mine is sick and tired of his MSI board, and he asked me to get a nice and cheap board for him. I bought the one in the title, but it was very low in stock so I just ordered it without doing the 20 hours of research I usually do when looking at mobos. I googled around a bit today, looking for reviews but most of them were written when this board and the chipset were both totally new - so no comparisons etc. Did I buy him a crap mobo, or is this a nice one? Angry_Games Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 heh, never even heard of this one I have been fooling with teh Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 which costs about $109 US here at Newegg. It is a pretty kick butt 965 board that overclocks very well (see my OCDB entries). It is budget since it only has a single PCI-E slot, but I don't mind that stuff. If that board you bought was an original 975X, it probably isn't going to be as good of an overclocker as the later 975's, but really it all depends. Best thing to do is just put it together and then let us know if it is a pile of crap or a pile of good heh.
