Guest r3d c0m3t Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I've decided to upgrade either toward the end of this year or just wait until mid-2008 because there's no reason for me to upgrade at moment. Games using DX10 won't be out until the end of this year and current video cards clamoring over being "Vista ready" will most likely be somewhat outdated when said games arrive. Besides, current DX9 games appear to get diminishing results on Vista which is a real turnoff. Will you upgrade?
RAINMAKA Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I plan to upgrade whenever I feel the time is right, Im going to try and get it through my school but even then I am going to wait a while.
southmine Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 No reason for me to, until my current video cards start showing their age. The only reason I'll bother to upgrade at all will be for gaming.
Gipse Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I am currently testing the business versions (german/english) that I got for free via university. I will stay with XP for several monts, that´s sure... Gipse
Thasp Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 XP and gentoo. Vista has inbuild DRM, so it's automatically crossed off my list. Where is the option "I'm never upgrading to Vista"? There is no right time for DRM, so I'm never using vista.

Yukon Trooper Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I'll upgrade soon as there is a game that I want that is Vista exclusive. Unfortunately I bet that will be sooner than later. Probably just go dual boot.

southmine Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Interesting read (took me almost an hour). Not being into movies much, I haven't been paying much attention to the DRM rantings and ravings (thinking it wouldn't affect me), but it seems there are much broader implications here as well. It seems I've much more reading to do.
Angry_Games Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 you forgot an option like "I'll leave XP when they pry my cold, dead hands from it"
Guest r3d c0m3t Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 you forgot an option like "I'll leave XP when they pry my cold, dead hands from it" That's actually not a bad idea. In midst of this DRM bull crap, I can honestly and quite provocatively say to hell with Vista and regardless of DX10 being exclusive to Vista, I would rather be outdated. Thank you and Goodnight.
