njswift10141980 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Well I've been out of action for a while with good reason, back on 12-30-06 I was having some pain in my lower right stomach region, so as usual I think nothing of it one day passes ok I guess I have some sort of virus which sucks because I'm on vacation until 1-3-07. Well new years day hits and I can't keep anything down plus I'm now in sever pain so my mother drives me to the hospital and we go to the walk up emergency section, fill out some papers and about an hour after the I get admitted. So I'm in the basement with the rest of the walk up patients in pain a few hours of laying there they send me for a cat scan and x-ray's again sometime later they come back and tell me it's appendicitis and the surgery is scheduled for 6:30am on 1-2-07 so I'm thinking that's great, then they finally give my own room and then tell me the surgery is moved to about 1(I think) it's finally done about 5 something (I think). So I wake up after the surgery is done and go back to my room and that's where I would remain until today 1-7-07 and I will most likely be out of work for a few weeks. Ok I was home for about a week after that when I wake up on 1-12-07 and I have severe pain on my left side and wrapping around to my back and I couldn't catch my breath, so we call the ambulance and back to the hospital I go. We get there about 8:30am and I go to the emergency room and as usual I get x-rays and cat scans, now that the staff on duty were a bunch of morons I didn't get my room until sometime around midnight, even though it was ready a lot earlier. So the next morning comes around and they tell me I have Pneumonia on my left lung, now lets jump to 1-19-07 when I had a bronchoscopy performed where they cleaned out some mucus from my lung which was clogging it up, but I'm back home again and hopefully for good. So there's how I started my new year's and it sucked.

radodrill Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Hope you get well soon. Sure is a horrendous start of the new year. Also shows how stupid hospital employees can be.
njswift10141980 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I've been home since 1-20-07 and I feel better, I have only one bottle of medication and I also have the little breathing machine where you got to move the ball. I'm going back to the hospital tommrow for a follow up xray and then one Friday I go see the dr. that performed the surgery so she can see how I'm doing
tasr Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Sorry your year started off rocky. I hope and pray you get well soon. Take care of yourself. Now that reminds me of the time I had an upper GI done. This was an outpatient procedure and needless to say it went wrong. I was released after the procedure and all was fine or was it? I went home and was resting the remainder of the day but what I didn’t know is that I was slowly bleeding internal. The next morning I awoke very weak and still not knowing what was happening internally. I grabbed a shower before heading to work. In the shower I vomited. The best way I could describe it was like Linda Blair in the Exorcist pukeing a solid stream of blood. Yes blood! I am a very calm person under emergency situations. I knew I was in trouble with this so I called my wife to take me the emergency room. I did not want to drive fearing of passing out behind the wheel. I remember my better half picking me up and starting to drive me to the hospital. Along the way I did pass out woke in the ER later on that day. The doctors said I had a tear in my esophagus and that I lost over half of my blood volume. This is what filled my stomach with blood till it caused me to vomit. I spent the next 4 day in the hospital. I have seen a lot of very gruesome things in my life. My experiences from being a first responder, my travels oversea and being in the military have presented this. I can say that was a very surreal experience standing in 2 inch of your blood and covered with it at the same time. Oh and I fired the doctor that performed the upper GI. I’ll have to tell you how my year started, not good but later. James

Guest Blooz1 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Sorry to hear about you health problems - what a way to start a new year off! Nothing worse than having a secondary problem after a major issue! I had a problem develop a couple of years ago after I had already been in the hospital for a month following major surgery on my pancreas, it caused a fever of 106F and delerium for a day. Major hallucinations are no fun!
