Screen Problems...

ok, i didn't know where to post this so i'm posting it here... Just recently my Gateway XV700 screen started to flicker every now and then. I tried degaussing it (the way it flickers is the same way degauss looks), and it still doesn't fix the problem. Also, just recently too when i go to turn off the screen, it makes popping noises. This started about 3 days ago when i reinstalled my 500mhz after messing up my 2.26. Anyone know what the problem is? It may be (it started happening after i did this) that i set my refresh rate too high for a period of time. I set my refresh rate at 75 mhz and it started. I turned it down to 72 and it still did it. I brought it back down to 60 and it still is messing up. I have a voodoo 3 3000 and it says that one of the modes is 800 by 600 at refresh rates 60, 72, and 75. Any suggestions?

YES YES.. YES YES YES (to the best of mario). I called gateway up and told them my problem, and they were like "Yeah, that screen's on its deathbed". So, they're sending me a new screen and it should be in in about 5 days!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!! Thanks all for your help (see bosco, you're not that useless... except for blowing 3 p4's.... for that... I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!!!!).
