Please help, Unstable RAM

Hi,

I've been working on this OC for months now and I'm having problems getting my RAM stable. My system is 12 hours Prime stable but I get BSOD's during games, saying theres been a problem with the memory and it has to dump.. Putting my system back to stock fixes the problem so it cant be the actual RAM. I have tried heaps of different dividers and tried loosening the primary timings to no avail. I've tried increasing the voltage to the RAM to 2.7v. I know very little about the secondary settings so I dont really know what I'm doing there. The settings in my sig are different to my current, will fix that soon.. I've even slightly underclocked the RAM and stock timings to still get BSODs.. Please help..

These are my current settings..

Do you know what chips are on your gskill? Are they TCCD?

For my Gskill TCCD's i use the following timings (also to get the stress from my memcontroller). My timings are behind yours okay?

DRAM Configuration Settings:

DRAM Frequency Set............................ - 140=RAM/FSB:07/10

Command Per Clock (CPC)....................... - Auto / enabled

CAS Latency Control (Tcl)..................... - 2 Bus Clocks / 3

RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd)..................... - 3 Bus Clocks /4

Min RAS# active time (Tras)................... - 6 Bus Clocks / 8

Row precharge time (Trp)...................... - 3 Bus Clocks / 4

Row Cycle time (Trc).......................... - 8 Bus Clocks /13

Row refresh cyc time (Trfc)................... - Auto / 16

Row to Row delay (Trrd)....................... - 02 Bus Clocks /3

Write recovery time (Twr)..................... - 02 Bus Clocks /3

Write to Read delay (Twtr).................... - 02 Bus Clocks /2

Read to Write delay (Trwt).................... - 03 Bus Clocks /3

Refresh Period (Tref)......................... - 3120 Cycles / try 41xx or auto

Write CAS Latency (Twcl)...................... - Auto

DRAM Bank Interleave.......................... - Enabled

DQS Skew Control.............................. - Auto

DQS Skew Value................................ - 0

DRAM Drive Strength........................... - Auto / level 7

DRAM Data Drive Strength...................... - Auto / level 2

Max Async Latency............................. - Auto / 9

DRAM Response Time............................ - Normal

Read Preamble Time............................ - Auto / 6.5 or 7

IdleCycle Limit............................... - 256 Cycles / 128

Dynamic Counter............................... - Disable / disabled

R/W Queue Bypass.............................. - 16 x / 16x

Bypass Max.................................... - 07 x /5x

How do I find out what kind of chips they are? I'm trying those settings now. Also I notice in the Genie bios settings that:

DRAM 2.5V Voltage....................2.68V

Is that supposed to be like that?

Also, how do i embed that text that i attached like you did:p

EDIT: Well its booted ok so now I'm running some memtests, and I'll run through some other tests if that passes:)

Another thing I've noticed is CPU-Z doesn't always report my RAM MHz depending on what divider I use.

The embedded text is simpel. I just copied and pasted the text in your textfile into this window.

About the vddr, that's kinda strange, but it also could be a good thing :-) This means that your board overvolts the vddr, but you should pay attention no to overvolt your ram.

LOL, yeah, that was simple... prolly why I didn't do it.

Is it going to kill my RAM having it over volted like that? its nearly 0.2V!! Why would it do that? Could this be causing my problems? Should I RMA it?

I *seem* to be stable now, I'm all good in stress testing, But I always have been, there are two games that generally caused the BSOD's, WoW and Empire Earth, so Ima play a heap of them over the next couple days and see how it goes.. Please keep checkin the thread, thanks heaps for the help so far. So heres my updated settings:

  • 2 months later...

So, I'm still struggling with these RAM settings. Still getting BSODs. I've even tried setting my FSB to 300, x10 CPU multi, and 2/3 RAM divider, which set my RAM back to stock, whitch actually worked great but my system would boot to the part where it 'verifying DMI pool data' and 60% of the time would just reboot again. Any ideas on this? My current settings are:
