xotreyflipox Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Hey everyone. I went out to Comp USA today and grabbed a 512 stick of Corsair RAM to add into my last slot, making 1.5GB. I had before a dual set of Patriot 3200 512MB sticks, and I just added my Corsair in, my computer just needed a tiny upgrade. Now as soon as I added it in, I get graphical errors, random restarts, etc. My Sempron is overclocked at 2.20GHz [275 x 8], and I think the divider is on like 5/6 or something as Patriot isn't made to OC very high, or at all. But the instant this Corsair was put it in it sucked. It's set at CL3 and it isn't exactly made to OC so I don't know what to do. I tried setting the divider way lower but problems keep occuring. Guest erico Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Hi You really should make a real signature so your configuration is known. We have no idea what else you have on board.. Follow the Rules you agreed to when you joined the Forum Putting in another stick of DRAM without going back to base memory settings and 2t and CPU speed back to original is not very workable. BTW..mixing different manufacturers Memsticks normally does not work out at all..unless you get lucky and the stick is identically organized and same chips as the other two.. so...good luck.. Guest erico Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 OK. Welcome to the Forum!! What I said about the DRAM configuration is still true... mix and match DRAM..not good and much grief for you.. see if you can buy another Patriot stick ..will save you loss of memory speed as well. check your manual and you will see what happens even when the stick is identical.. see the note on page 18 in manual and the guide on page 19... Looks like you had that Patriot going reasonably fast at 440 MHZ.. is that Corsair DRAM value select?
xotreyflipox Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Yes >.> See the main reason I just ran and grabbed a quick upgrade was because I was working on a video I was editing for World of Warcraft, and I am getting a good 2GB dual RAM kit for my birthday in a month or so, and I just got this as a temporary stick. I expected it not to be the greatest but I didn't expect it not to work at all heh.
Praz Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 2 matching sticks of memory with the correct information programmed into the SPD + 1 stick of memory with the correct but different information programmed into the SPD attempting to use Auto settings which gets the timing values from the SPD. 2 matching sticks of memory with the correct values manually entered into the bios + 1 stick whose values need to be different then the 2 existing sticks. Using either of the above scenarios do you see why your attempt at adding a third stick is not working?

Yeh.. well I would take that stick back for a refund and wait for your birthday memory upgrade Have fun Tweaking your MOBO
