Eztli Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I just got a SLI-DR, as my previous mobo failed (not DFI). I have now rebuilt my computer with water cooling, but it is nearly impossible for me to turn on my computer. Either the power button, does nothing, or in the rare cases it works, I have to hit the reset button to be able to POST. I have no idea why. Why can't I turn my computer on? Seasonic 600W power supply XFX 7800GTX (SLI) DFI LANPARTY SLI-DR (Do not know specific version or date-code) AMD FX-57 512x2 Crucial Ballistix (would be x4, but getting errors in memtest) Thermaltake Bigwater SE Maxtor 500GB, WD 72GB 10k RPM, Seagate 400GB Lite-On DVD drive, NEC DVD drive Apologies for not creating a sig, I am on a borrowed iBook with low battery life. @Eztli If you've got time to post, you've got time to build a proper sig. loggan26 Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 SOme seasonic 600w psu have problems with these mobo, do you have another psu you could try?????? Logan
wevsspot Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 I'm 99.9% sure that your power on issues are related to the Seasonic PSU, especially if it is one of the original revisions. Highly recommend the OCZ GameXStream series, the Fortron equivalents or the Corsair 620W unit for most any DFI board.
Eztli Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Just went down and checked Seasonic SS-600HT Rev. A2 I also have a 430W Thermaltake PSU, but it seems likely that it is too weak. I was able to power on my PC, but it seems I have to wait about 20 minutes, give or take some, to be able to again. I guess I will just never shutdown, only restart? @Eztli If you've got time to post, you've got time to build a proper sig. If you can't follow the rules, how can you follow the advice? Guest caffeinejunkie Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Sounds like classic Seasonic coldboot issues due to weak voltage on the +5vsb line (lanparty boards have massive draws on the standby line when booting overloading weak +5vsb lines and causing the psu to use it's overvolt protection resulting in no boot). You could try placing a .22uf cap on the case power button (it's worked for some people).
Eztli Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 What is a .22uf cap? I searched Google and got a bunch of guitar-related links. @Eztli If you've got time to post, you've got time to build a proper sig. If you can't follow the rules, how can you follow the advice? wevsspot Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 It is a capacitor. They are about a buck and a quarter at your local Radio Shack Store. Go towards the back and they will have a large storage bin with all types of different capacitors inside the drawers.

Use your thermaltake and see if it boots alright. If you are afraid of it being too weak, then just plug in ur main hard drive, and only one stick of ram and 480w should be enough to power all that. It will save you a lot of headaches.

Sharp Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Contact Seasonic and ask them for a later revision PSU, A3 or above.
