DFI & Opteron won't boot

Recommended Posts

I bought 2 opterons.

I have a Venice @ 2700mhz in my DFI functioning normally. But if I place some Opteron not boot the computer.

Led loses luminiosidade when I bind to the computer in the energy with opteron in socket… this does not happen with the installed venice.

I Wanted some tip of what he can be fact, therefore 2 Opteron with defect I am impossivel and the remaining portion of my Computer is functioning normal at this accurate moment.

I am using the latest BIOS of the site of the DFI and a SevenTeam powersupply 420w

It forgives for bad English.

Will you please make a signature per the rules? Knowing what is in your rig will greatly help us in helping you.

Get a Recommended Power Supply

Is this a new build? If so check out the NF4 LanParty - initial build guild w/pictures? linkage.

All four (4) power connectors plugged into the motherboard? These are;

24-pin main power connector

4-pin 12v secondary connector or EPS

4-pin 5v/12v molex connection or HDD-type

4-pin 5v/12v floppy connection or FDD-type

What CPU multiplier are you using? Use x9 with a Opty. What’s your memory timings?

Hey PlayerZ, hi from Brazil! :]

This 7Team isn't recommended to these high power mobos. You know it's a low-end PSU, don't you?

Check out this thread with a list of recommended PSUs: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854.

There're good PSUs at WAZ (www.waz.com.br). I'm not sure about if it's your problem, but it's a good start point if your opty is working properly.

You should take a PSU with at least 480W in a basic DFI configuration.

And also your might create a signature with your current configs to use this forum (it's in forum's rules).

I'm going to buy a new PSU to my system soon also. :].

It's working without problems, but i have afraid with this Satellite 450W (it's a "good" psu though, and not a crapy generic satellite).

Hope this helps and stay in touch

see ya

Did u buy 2 opterons really? LOL

Just because your PSU works with your venice doesn't mean it'll work with your opty now. I think this opty demands more power, so, the problems.

And man, you're doing some kind of miracle running that system in that 7Team 420W PSU.

By the way, where did u buy that G. Skill sticks? It's very hard to find it in Brazil. I want it.

wow your using an 420W PSU with an Opteron + DFI?

not an good idea as opterons need efficent and stable power and a dfi board needs a lot of power.

:S

Id recommend buying an OCZ GameXStream 600W, really good.

Did you start it up after a cmos clear and with 1 stick of ram in the orange slot furthest from the cpu. When I install a new power supply especialy if the old was suspect I treat my system as if it were a new build. Minimum hardware. all powewr connectors on the board plugged in ect.

I upgraded frome a venice 3200 to the Opty 165. The Opty will not like the memory settings you had for the venice. Use a divider to lower the ram frequency, and set most of the ram settings to auto. Also, you need to set to Optimum default settings till you get it running. Once you got it going good, then you can start overclocking again. This Opty chip ROCKS!

What are you doing with power applied to your system and opening and closing the cpu brackett? Trying to blow your CPU? Sorry but come on You have to know not to ever do anything like that. Your sending random joltz of power thru your CPU If it wasn't bad before it is now.
