stuio Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 HI All, After reading alot of posts about ram etc im still a little confused as to what to get for my next upgrade. i currently am using 2X512 Geil Ultra PLat pc4000 timings of 2.5-3-3-7 amd 3500winchester 2.2 stock o'c to 2.5ghz 250FSB 10 Multi I was thinking it would be better to have a quicker 1gb stick instead of the 2 512's i am using and someone has offered to buy my geils and with my saved money i have about £120 to spend.. what would you get? thanks
Praz Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Unless you are going to get 2x1GB you'd be better off to keep what you have.
Kingfisher Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 What praz said. Getting a single 1 gb stick would not be able to use the dual channel option on your motherboard, therfore decreasing performance. 2 x 512 or 2 x 1024 kits are the way to go. stuio Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 ok, what 2X 1gb would you reccomend? suppose i could go to about £150 a thread on here said it wouldnt be worth going over pc4000 with a fsb of 250?
Praz Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Because of how much DDRI ram availability and cost varies by location it'd be best if you look around for some in your price range. Then post what is available to you for recommendations.

Praz Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Those are all DDRII. They will not work. You need DDRI.
