UndeadMercenary Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Well I'm at the point where I feel like I need to bring my PC into a store to get it fixed. Half a week ago, I installed some HP programs that came with our printer on my computer. I used one of them to edit a video. Didn't do what I wanted, so I uninstalled all the stupid things the CD put on my PC. After getting rid of a few, my PC needed to be restarted. I did, but then it wouldn't boot back into Windows. After trying a few shutdowns and restarts, I found that I had a CMOS error. Not knowing what it was at first, I just pushed F1 to get into Windows. Everything was fine, except the next day, I can't boot at all. Somehow after a few tries, it finally boots and I am able to load a previous version of my CMOS (CMOS Reloaded). Everything worked fine until I restarted. Haven't been able to boot since. What happens, you ask? Well, the PC has power, it seems like it checks the DVD drive for something, then nothing, just idle running. No beeps, no nothing, monitor is blank. So, I did the following: - Tried booting without HD, then DVD, then floppy to so if either were the culprit. - Tried booting without any of them (including PCI and video card, basically Bare bone). - Tried clearing CMOS with jumper. - Tried reseating the RAM, then testing each stick. - Tried reseating the processor and reapplying new thermal paste (it looked like it needed replacing anyways). - Replaced CMOS battery. - Cleaned the whole case. I think that's about it. From what I've researched on the Internet, no beeps means either a Power Supply or a Motherboard error. I know it's not my Power Supply, so it must be something on the mobo. I'm really frustrated at this point, especially since I got a new GeForce 7900 GS KO for christmas and I haven't been able to use it yet Any suggestions? So far, I've been told I either have to flash my motherboard or replace it. I've done all the CMOS clearing and replacing that I can. Unless there's some really off-the-wall solution I'm not aware of, I think the mobo is scrapped. What do you guys think? radodrill Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Try clearing the CMOS overnight (With the battery removed and the jumper on pins 2-3) with only 1 stick of ram, CPU, and GFX card installed. Try running the system as a bare bones (1 Stk RAM, CPU, and GFX) outside the case If you have a PCI GFX card try using that instead of the PCI-e card If possible, try another PSU (could be fried but still produces standby power) IMO most probably an issue with the PSU or the CMOS battery. I mind as well bring it to the tech store  Thanks for the help though.
