Only one PCI-e slot working?

Recommended Posts

Finally I came to clear that the vga card is working as I have it perfectly running on the second pci-e slot so I guess I can as well conclude that the ram are perfectly working as well.

But unfortunately this is not an acceptable solution as the heatsink prevents me from using both the pci slots (and I need both of them).

Besides, I keep wondering why the first slot should not be working!

Any idea?

When I place the card in the first slot, the boot sequence stops at the last led.

Could it be that the motherboard is faulty?

Thanx!!

Hello,

Do you have all 4 power connectors plugged into the board?

- Could there be some kind or partitcle/dust in the slot?

- Are you sure the card being plugged in 100%?

- And maybe the slot is actually faulty.

Definitely yes! ;)

Cleaned the slot with a soft brush, so I think it's ok.

As far as I can tell, the card is sitting properly in the slot...

Are all 3 of the long jumpers between the slots in their proper places? And seated right? If these are all right and the slot is clean and the card works and all 4 power connectors are plugged in and the card is seated properly and plugged in. Then you mnay need to rma the board. Whem you tried the card in the econd slot did you use the same power connector on the card as you did when it was in the top slot?

Yes, sure! Last attempt will be with another card in the first slot.

If it doesn't work either, the it's definitely the motherboard!
