Ok, i really really need some help... I have a sound blaster live value. It has the digital out sister card. Basically the jacks are 2 speaker outs, 1 in, 1 mic, and 1 digital. I was wondering if its possible to get 5.1 from this card?

how? Right now i've got it hooked up to my surround sound via the coax cable. Like here's how it goes. I've got a coax out on my sony, i used a cord that had a normal sized pulg at one end and a headphone pulg at the other... I plug that into my digital in on my sound card. I loaded up powerdvd xp version and put in cats and dogs (i can't find any other dvd's nearby). It only plays on dobly prologic... I know cats and dogs is digital 5.1 because it works on my ps2... So what do i need to do?

I dunno D3, i checked on the SoundBlaster Page www.soundblaster.com

and they said there was no support for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround on a sb value card, its the only sb live card that doesnt support it :(

Ahh, my bad. Didn't read the "value" part. :( Just thought it said SBLive.

You'd think the SBLive value would support it as well.... you may want to look into the digital din add on card that they had for a while... not sure if that adds 5.1 or not.

actually... i have the addon card... i have my coax cable hooked up to it, but you have to use a converter to make it fit into there (a normal size pulg to a headphone plug). that could be the problem... i dunno...
