OsamaBinAthlon+ Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 First off what are these things and what is this cable for And some mobos ASUS Tyan does that have the processor on it hmm? what ram does it use? can I run it? 1st? this came with a little ram stick looking thing called a terminator kit WTF is that? Any of these network cards good, maybe for my pc? Maybe the intel one? And a PSU Are these both PC-133mhz? Worthless? So basically is anything worth anything. Can I use one of the LAN cards in my pc is it better than onboard. And where the hell does the processor go on the ASUS That's all for now. dr_bowtie Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I think the Asus is for Slot cpus.... I have a few of those... like the P-II and P-III 450mhz.... they'd be good for playing with... and maybe building firewall boxes... Nightshadow Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Looks like the asus takes a slot 1 processor.
radodrill Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 First off what are these things Probably parts of an old printer and what is this cable for Old style FDD cable And some mobos ASUSAnd where the hell does the processor go on the ASUS Above the PCI slots; it's probably a Slot1 P2 but could be a SlotA AMD Tyandoes that have the processor on it hmm? what ram does it use? can I run it? Obviously a CPU (possibly a P1) is installed; uses simms, which were in use before dimms came around 1st?this came with a little ram stick looking thing called a terminator kit WTF is that? Not sure W/O seeing a pic of the terminator Any of these network cards good, maybe for my pc? Maybe the intel one? Can I use one of the LAN cards in my pc is it better than onboard. All PCIs so they should work fine; Better than onboard? maybe the 1000T intel if the MB only supports 10/100T otherwise not (unless the MB doesn't have onboard LAN LOL) And a PSU should be a good backup for an old rig or for running the pump of an H2O rig during leak testing. Are these both PC-133mhz? Not sure about the second one but the first is Worthless? nowadays yes; unless you still have 2 parallel printers that you want to connect to one machine W/O having to physically change cables to swap printers. taowulf Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I had a chuckle at the Y2K compliant stuff too....then i realized that Y2K paranoia led to my completely missing having ANY fun on NYE that year. Some idiot thought that I HAD to be at the office monitoring things, but It was a Waste Of Time. Officially.
radodrill Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 LOL weren't the Y2K issues software related????? Anyhow its not Y2K7 compliant unless its just running in and old file/print server or kiddie computer.

tweak50 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 LOL weren't the Y2K issues software related????? Not that it matters but isn't the bios software? lol
radodrill Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Not that it matters but isn't the bios software? lol Exactly my point. AFAIK the root problem was W/ accounting (and other) software using a short format for the year. I'm not sure if the BIOS used the short format as well. Even if it was in the BIOS, flashing it would make it Y2K compliant
