Technohydra Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 What would you recommend for a Venus bios for a 2x1 GB UCCC set with an FX-60. Or with a set of 2x1 GB pc4000 Crucial Ballistix? I'm very familiar with the eXpert bioses and their uses, but the Venus is a totally new game to me. To boot, I'd been using the 704-2bta bios from BT, and I can't get a Venus version. Praz Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Any of the available bios' (of which there aren't many) should work fine with that combination.
arklab Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Just use the current factory BIOS from DFI. While I haven't really tested ram at "max-out" settings, the board is amazing with tolerence for ram. As you can see from my sig. I'm using Corsair DDR 550 with modest OC. I recieved some (new) Balistix Tracer (2x1G DDR500), and just poped it in with no setting change at all. Worked fine. Other combinations that worked included the two Corsair 1G DDR500 in two slots AND two Kingmax TinyBGA 256M DIMMS - AT THE SAME TIME! Yes, a pair of 1G DIMMS and a pair of 256M DIMMS for a total of four DIMMs. From two different makers. With radically different size and TYPE chips. From different foundries. :eek2: "Lets see the Great Leslie try THAT ONE!" (from Professor Fate in the great Race) In my Expert board the Kingmax TinyBGA wouldn't even BOOT with just one DIMM in any slot. (It worked fine with OCZ, though) So I really don't think you want to be messing around with custom BIOS stuff unless you have really hit some kind of a wall. And then don't do it! And Merry Xmas!
