Prime95 Question

Recommended Posts

My friend has a Intel E6700 and when I tried running 2 instances of prime95 on his computer 1 core would stay stuck on test 1for a really long time. The test would not fail but just as an example, core 1 was on test 10 while core 0 was still on test 1. They were both running the same test so its not like it was running different sized tests. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas why something like this would happen. All temps were <50 read with core temp.

You need to configure it the way Happy_Games shows in his dual core guide. You're not specifying the memory correctly. One instance is taking all the available memory and leaving none for the other instance. Click on the "Stability Testing Programs" link in my sig for Happy's guide.

I had it configured correctly. Each instance was set to use 850 mb of memory... What a quick response :P
Just use 800mb

I get the problem you describe when I overclock the CPU and it shows that it's unstable after 4 hours or so.Maybe the 2nd core isn't that stable as the 1st.

Would that be enough of a difference to cause the problem?
Yes. Follow Happy’s guide.
