I am pretty sure I read about this on here before but I will be darned if I can find it. Anyone remember hearing about messanger.net posting popups on the desktop with address's to porn sites and other useless sites? The only option that you have when the box comes up is clicking ok or clicking the X but it never ends just keeps going up with more address's and it never goes away, of course I have the done the normal stuff like Ad Ware and Norton, I can not find anything anyone with any ideas? :(

Start->Run->msconfig

Go to the services tab, and find Microsoft Messenger. Scream really loud at it, show it your middle finger, tell it where to go and how to get there, and then unclick it. After rebooting you'll get a message asking if you broke your computer, click the No I didn't, leave me alone thing and close the window.

I have never had .net do that to me. I have had pop ups and have since created my own way of removing them from the system and they never come back.

I know that does not help much ..

sorry man...

First go to Add/Remove Program Files. See if anythign is install . Like INternet 404 or something that you know you didnt put there.

After that go to Windows Explorer and delete temp Directories and Tem Internet files. Also go to program files and see if any Folders still exist after removing the program. If the folder exist the delete it. Under C:\program files\common files there tends to be some install like GMT, CMEI, CMEII, all part of Gator stuff. Delete those folders.

Next go to regedit HKLM/Software and delete any of the programs you deleted before if there were any.

Go in even deeper. HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

In here is where everything starts up when your PC starts. Take a close look at the paths where everything is running from to see if you have anything out of the ordinary.

Delete what you dont want in there. Alos if you see something like c:\winnt\flat.exe or somehting like that do a search on your HD and remove it. One I remove from users desktops all the time the path is like c:\winnt\system32\savenow.exe

Little bugger delet that crud .....

But thats just how I get rid of any and every pop up.
