benwake Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 hello!! Herefar is my overclocking. Got my opty 146 @ 3Ghz stable, but i want more, especially 3.2Ghz. I don't know what's blocking me, and maybe some of you can figure it out. I think ram (Ocz xtc gold pc-3200 2-2-2-5). Motherboard is dfi ultra-d @ sli-d cpu-z : http://users.skynet.be/benwake/oc.JPG all : http://users.Skynet.be/benwake/defoc.JPG mathematics : http://users.Skynet.be/benwake/math.JPG other question maybe, i'm on a cnps9500, can i go over 1.6 Vcore? Many thanks !!!!
PhoetuS Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I think the only thing blocking you at this point is the CPU itself. I highly doubt that you will be able to get 3.2 stable on air. You obviously have a great chip there to even get you to 3.0. Have you considered an OCDB Entry? As for Vcore, many have said that anything over 1.55v is too much for air. likewhoa Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 to simply put it, it's your RAM that's blocking you. get pc4xxx RAM AND SETUP YOUR SIGNATURE BEFORE A_G EATS YOU ALIVE.
benwake Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 ok, i will go for a signature then before coming back will bump the thread up when i get one
benwake Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 sig is done (basically), and not only my sig... http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/87/keepgoingap3.jpg i'm getting closer and closer, putted my Vcore once to 1.67...but no boot so i think i will stop here...no? PS, it's funny. What a man can do to gain some Mhz http://users.Skynet.be/benwake/keepgoing2.JPG
likewhoa Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 you're gonna fry your chp at those voltages on air. like i mentioned before,.. get better overclocking RAM! pc4xxx
Gipse Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Think about the costs of a cpu-gravesite and a new one if you want to use this vcore for a longer time... Gipse
benwake Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 i will get better ram of course, but do not worry about my cpu, he's working fine again... 3Ghz is the optimal clock now. I did to 1.67 because a friend of me went to 1.7 on a zalman, not stable. I will keep you'll in touch, thanks for help!
red930 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Are you trying for suicide runs? Because at this rate, that's what it will be. If you're trying to clock it that high, you'll need to look at more exotic cooling (read: phase or liquid nitrogen). 8 hours prime + bench marks = stable. I wouldn't settle for less. Be nice to your chip!
likewhoa Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 benwake your friend is an idiot DO NOT listen to him.
Guest BFG Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 LOL wow I am surprised your chip is ok! Honestly there won't be much difference between 3000 and 3200. There really is NO way that you are going to be able to get a cpu stable at 3.2 with that high of voltage on air. Besides, you already have a GGG processor. The moral of the story is don't be too greedy with your mhz or your chip might pay with its life!
benwake Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 indeed guys, when i was surfing around, i saw i'm a pretty lucky gut that i didn't burned my cpu @ 1.67. Despite i think i will keep him running @ 3Ghz, and wait for a Fx55 and a very good ram. Afterwards maybe upgrading to C2D
