Random Shut Downs - Long post - Need 2nd Opinion

Recommended Posts

OK looks like I had one of the sticks finally error out on me after about 6hrs running at stock speeds. Once it started, it was all downhill from there. Looks like I will be placing an RMA to Mushkin for this thing after all.

Looks like the board is probably ok then. I guess I will see once my new RAM arrives.

Thanks for all the help so far guys, let's hope this solves my issues.

What happens if you clear the CMOS for 10mins using only the CMOS jumper,

then place both sticks in orange slots.

Power the pc and run memtest as it is, all default settings?

And do you have all 3 power connectors plugged into the board?

Tried this and still got errors with both sticks. See post above on bad stick of RAM.

And yes , I have all the power connectors plugged in.

Ok, my new sticks of RAM no longer throw Memtest errors even after 24hrs of testing. I am still having random shut-down issues, though much much less than before.

Could voltage in the CPU or memory be causing this?

You could always try bumping RAM voltage up if you haven't already done so.

Also, get MemTest for Windows (search on these Forums, or just Google it), as that will test your secondary timings

Can't see anywhere above where someone has asked this - so do you still get the problem with only one of your gfx cards installed, SLi disabled...?

Little mor epower to the cpu can help the memory controller is there for the memory. Prime stable? That can be an issue to once it is pretty much stable reinstall windows by the book your IS is borked brom running with bad ram.

Ok took the voltage downwards on the memory and a tad bit on the CPU and so far I am still Primeing at about 18hrs in with no problems. Crossing my fingers that everything will be well from here on out.
