woz_mann Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 After trying to get ready to install Vista as a dual boot, I started getting some weird errors. BSOD's from the nvstab driver (nVidia RAID / Disk controller). I was able to eventually install Vista, but had to reinstall XP due to continual BSOD's (eventually got down to the point where I could only get into XP via Safe Mode. Nuts and Boltsa of it all as of now: - Cannot install XP at all, locks up at the "welcome to setup" Screen. - All overclocking has been removed - Memory has been tested using memflash for 12 hours ... all passed - HDD's all pass all tests thrown at them (all tests I can think of) - tried installing without RAID, and with RAID - System is Prime Stable using boot CD with MPrime - Tried different Install CD's (XP Pro w/ SP2 ... Know working CD, KP Home) - Tried different DVD Drives is my mobo's SATA / IDE controller dying????

RGone Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 You probably need to do some googling on vista and xp together...seems like a pile of headache and there is said now that if you quit vista and want to go back to xp that there are special procedures to get xp to install and work again...sounds like a huge forkdookle to me... I just want it on my RAID! :tooth:
woz_mann Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 well it looks like it might have been a driver issue Installing XP WITHOUT using RAID Drivers (skipped F6 screen) .... see how it goes .... dunno why it wouldn't install b4 ......... XP must be female .... TEMPREMENTAL (thank god the wife doesn't read my forum posts!!!!)
woz_mann Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Nope ... I was wrong again. SATA Controller is dead! BIOS Freezes looking for SATA Drives, even if none are connected. RIP! SLI-DR Expert Ordered!

woz_mann Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Ultra-D supports SATAII, NF4-D does not the drive in question is SATAI only ..... but it does NOT detect if a HDD is NOT connect ........ that is the issue ..... it freezes looking for one .... I'll take a pic when I get home. ... thx for the shot tho ...... but i think its R.I.P.
