bathat Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Hello, The DFI NF4 UT NF4 SLI-D is finally in my possession and it's everything I expected, and more. However, I still have a few questions about the layout. I've flipped through the manual many times with an emphasis on the layout diagram. I can't find these two things... Connector for the case audio ports? This one's the most important of all three, as it would make things much more convenient to have access to the case audio ports. Case alarm connector? If there isn't one, I can certainly live without it... somehow. Also, what is the connector at the base of the processor right next to the small onboard heatsink? This isn't listed in the diagram. I've also downloaded the 143pgs manual from DFI's site. Thanks
otogrim Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 ok.. for the audio ports look on page 44, And if you're talking about the connector right above the pci slot, you need to plug a molex in there, the same as the one you would use for your floppy drive
bathat Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Alright, thanks. I've looked at page 44 many times but I was always under the impression I had to connect the AC'97 cable included with the case. If only I'd know it was that simple... And if you're talking about the connector right above the pci slot Hmm, I'm not sure. If you're talking about the one to the side of the pci-e x2 slot; that's the one. Thanks for the help, otogrim. Anyone have any information about a 2-pin connector for the case alarm? Again, it's not a big deal but I'd just like to test it. edit: It would be nice to have both the rear and front audio ports enabled simultaneously since I only have headphones and mic ports built into the case; no speaker port... unless speakers can be plugged in here as well. thefabe Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 check out the initial build guide link under my sig it has pictures to the power connections not to mention it is the guide you need to follow step by step when you build your system
bathat Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 erico: I'm a bit confused by your statement. I was banned for not having a sig on my first post, but I have one now. thefabe: So that connector does in fact appear to be the floppy connector, which I have no use for. Praz Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 edit: It would be nice to have both the rear and front audio ports enabled simultaneously since I only have headphones and mic ports built into the case; no speaker port... unless speakers can be plugged in here as well. Why would you not want to plug your speakers into the rear port? With the case wired properly to the motherboard, the speakers will function normally until you plug your headphones into the case. Then the speakers will be disconnected from the system and all sound will be through the headphones. Once the headphones are unplugged the speakers will output sound again. bathat Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Thanks. The manual makes it sound like the jumper modification disables the rear ports for good but it actually works as anyone would expect and disable on an as-needed basis. DFI rookie here. Thanks Praz. bathat Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Alright, thanks... good to hear. I noticed the 'siglessness' for oto as well and found it a bit odd. Any information on the case alarm connector? I'm assuming the board doesn't have one.
bathat Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I tried removing the jumpers on the Karajan audio module and using the front ports but there was still no audio and if I unplug the headphones, there's no sound coming from the rear port speakers. What am I missing here?
loggan26 Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Uninstall your driver and use driver cleaner pro to clean out old drivers, reinstall either the Nvidia Audio drivers or the Realtek drivers. Logan
