grasskicker509 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 just wondering how tough it is to get masterkleer 7/16 tubing onto 1/2 barbs...and whats the best way to do it
Nightshadow Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 You can use a hairdryer, or a small heater. Also dipping the ends in boiling water works well.
PhoetuS Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Also dipping the ends in boiling water works well. This is the method that worked the best for me... I tried the hairdryer & it was a joke. I put some distilled water in a bowl & put it in the microwave until it was really hot, then soaked the tubing in the water for a bit, It softened up nicely. It helps to get the barbs a little wet also.

Xavior Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Easy stuff when you have DangerDen Hi-Flow barbs. Perfect-Seals are a different story, they most likely require heating. Plastic barbs are a PITA too.
General Septem Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Is Masterkleer a good brand compared to Tygon? I know it is the brand of choice for 7/16".
PhoetuS Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I like it, and a lot of people seem to use it. Certianly is cheaper then Tygon.

I would still use clamps. The barbs (from what I've seen anyway) are usually rebated in the middle, and the hose won't go around that competely, so if you want the best fit I would use a clamp. Yeah, I would definatly clamp it anyway. Better safe than sorry!
Evil-Fruits|R4z Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I used the boiling cup of water to get mine on and then used jubilee clips to clamp them - make sure you don't over tighten tho' as it can pinch & cut the tubing. r4z
