Darkorb Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 hey, i just added some memory to my system, 2x512mb Kingston, adding to my 2x512mb micron. in everest, my write speeds were 5800 in everest memory test/benchmark. with all the ram in, it dropped down to 4000. any ideas? bad ram? RGone Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 any ideas? bad ram? Bad ram? Not hardly or probably not! Any ideas? Sure...bad expectations not bad ram...additional memory filling all slots certainly will force 2T Command rate for at least ~10% bandwidth penalty. Depending on cpu and user adjustments...memory may well drop to DDR333 instead of the 2 stick DDR400 that is usual speed...yep plenty of reasons for measured bandwidth drop. Darkorb Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 ok thanks, will i see the performance difference? all the ram sticks are running at ddr 400. they have same timings, cas and all. not sure about the volts though
RGone Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 In applications most likely will see a boost when opening any large application as the memory itself should be larger to hold the app more easily without part of the app residing in virtual ram which is actually on the hard drive...
