djp Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Here's my situation: I was playing Oblivion, computer seemed to error out, and then the system hung up. Tried to soft reboot it several times, before finally just reseting it. Now it will not even boot up. Doesn't get to the BIOS screen, nothing. I tried reseting the BIOS for good measure, but it has no effect. Tried swapping the RAM around to different slots, nothing. The post code spits out two codes in gibberish, then goes to C1, then repeats ad-nauseum (which is why I tried the RAM thingy). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. red930 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 There's a thread opened by Happy_Games that states all the error codes for that motherboard you're using. I would do a search and see what you come up with. In the meantime try to backtrack and see if you find anything suspecious (loose cable, not enough power to the motherboard, cpu properly installed). Good Luck! Try running only one video card first to see if it boots and go from there. Try putting your memory modules in the orange slot or just one memory at a time and test with MEMTEST86. djp Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Error Code C1 is DRAM detection. Already tried the different slots 2 & 4 instead of 1 & 3, tried one stick in each of the slots, nothing. Tried just running one video card instead of two, but still nothing. Wish I could run Memtest 86, but I don't even get to the bios splash screen. Has the mobo . itself? I'm tempted to do a rebuild, but would like to explore all of the other options first.
ReelFiles Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Minimal setup outside of the case is my preferred method of troubleshooting, especially in a sudden no-boot situation. I find it much easier to swap out different parts for testing that way.
Guest MadDias Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 i blew up two x1600xt´s when i build my rig... i don´t know what it was, but one card lived for one day and the the next for two weeks. maybe u should try a different videocard to ensure it´s not the cards that bit the dust. Nope, not the video cards, popped in an EVGA Nvidia card, but still have the same problem. Anyone know if DFI carries some type of warranty service or something? I'm _6_ days beyond the RMA period, and the vendor isn't budging. ***EDIT*** I don't know how much more of a minimal setup I can go. It's pretty much a bare bones system as it is. No bells or whistles or anything. I even yanked the HDD and DVD, but still have the same problem.
fumduck Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 What worked for me was 1 ram in furthest orange slot clear Cmos... But it took me a couple of clears. It was my memory.. Bad timings.. I think it was like 3 times before my board acknowledged I had cleared it.. That was the big issue then went right into BIos and adjust settings
