Gipse Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Hi, I want to go for Raid0 in the next days but can´t decide which manufacture I should choose. I found these drives here in Germany for a reasonable price: Excelstore ESJ8160S 160GB 8MB SATA II I have never heard anything about this brand before; what do you think about it? http://www3.atelco.de/8AJiopKHcs1apT/1/art...&agid=689&adp=0 It is hard to find "small" drives these days; I don´t need 2x 250GB... Thanks for your help Gipse

Chaos_2k Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 go with the Samsung Sp2504C (250GB)(I ordered them from Mindfactory after 0:00pm and hadnt to pay for shipping) for 62,5€ each. Raid0 on Nf4-Ultra-d with 32kb Stripe size. Works like a charm and is really cheap for 500GB. Theres a good thread at http://www.forumdeluxx.de/forum/showthread.php?t=239103 good German thread about them PM me if you have further questions regarding those hdds
Gipse Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 @Brother Esau: As you can see here it is very difficult to get these drives right now in Germany; please have a look at the prices too... http://translate.google.com/translate?u=ht...Flanguage_tools @Chaos_2k: Nice find, thanks! But I think that this is too much for me. I can´t imagine how I should use 500GB of HDD´s. But I will keep this in my mind! Is there anything better/more speed and less capacity? Thanks! Gipse hmmmmmm....never heard of these drives! What is the warranty on these drives?..........damn! I still can't understand Germany's infatuation with David Hasselhoff! About warranty: http://www.excelstor.com/ Please ask Happy_Games about my avatar I was the greatest fan of Michael Knight in whole Germany  during the 80´s

ReelFiles Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I think that this is your best deal on there, if you're not into big drives. http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a167925.html

These drives are sweet, nice warranty too (5 years). Are they better/faster than the 250GB Samsung drives? Both cost the same for me when ordering from Mindfactory... ReelFiles Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I am a big fan of the WD 16MB cache drives, but if you can get 250GB for the same price, you might want to consider them. I don't think you'll notice much of a speed difference between them, in real world application.
Gipse Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Here are the prices: http://www.mindfactory.de/cgi-bin/MindStor...26?pid=geizhals http://www.mindfactory.de/cgi-bin/MindStor...98?pid=geizhals So it´s only a question about cache, warranty and personal feelings... Will be hard for me to decide which one I should take. Gipse
